I'm in COMPLETE agreement! I combine storebought props with homemade stuff, often re-working the store products to be more to my liking.
I have a Grim Reaper prop I found at a Home Depot years ago that I dearly love (his name is "Stinky", as my son couldn't say "Reaper" at the time...mispronouncing it as "Reaker"). He's actually a major part of my yard haunt, and I cannot imagine my Halloween being complete without him!
I'm with you. My yard usually consists of some combination of homemade and "altered" store-bought props. Long live Ruby and Donna. :)
